Hello everyone! I'm Mrs. Brooks, and I teach English Language Arts (ELA) for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade on the Rise team. This will be my 6th year at Independence Academy and my 9th as an educator. I graduated with my B.A. in English with a specialization in teaching. I specifically chose to teach ELA not only to tie into my own passions, but because I know that it can be a struggle for some students. I love pushing my students to dig deep into their reading, reach new heights with their writing, and gain confidence in their public speaking! 

At school, I am also the co-coordinator of Phoenix Family and our Cooking Club. In the community, I love to help volunteer with the Food Bank of the Rockies and Hospice when I'm able. At home, it's my husband, Tom, myself, and our two kitties - Archer and Seven. You'll usually find me playing games (video games, board games, card games... I love 'em all!), baking, weightlifting, or at a concert!

I cannot wait to see what this year brings!
