Description
Independence Academy Charter School is seeking a reliable, organized, and self-directed School Secretary to support the daily operations of the school office. This position serves as the first point of contact for students, parents, staff, and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. The School Secretary manages communications, maintains records, and supports administrative functions while contributing to the overall efficiency and mission of the school.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
The School Secretary ensures smooth day-to-day operations of the front office and related administrative functions. The School Secretary will:
· Serve as the primary point of contact for visitors, students, and parents
· Answer phones, respond to emails, and direct inquiries appropriately
· Maintain accurate student records, attendance logs, and filing systems
· Monitor daily attendance and follow up on absences and tardies
· Assist with student enrollment, registration, and withdrawals
· Schedule meetings, appointments, and school events
· Prepare and distribute school communications, newsletters, and announcements
· Support the principal and staff with clerical and administrative tasks
· Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information
· Order and manage office supplies and materials
· Media Releases
· Input and update data in school information systems
· Support general office organization and efficiency
· Perform additional duties as assigned; this description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities

Requirements
· High school diploma required (Associate’s degree preferred)
· Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
· Previous office or administrative experience preferred (school setting preferred)
· Strong organizational and time-management skills
· Effective written, verbal, and technology-based communication skills
· Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
· Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision
· Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or student information systems
