Position Summary
Independence Academy Charter School is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-centered Instructional Paraprofessional to support elementary-aged students in both general education and specialized learning environments. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children, supporting academic and social-emotional growth, and collaborating with teachers to create an inclusive, engaging learning environment.

Major Responsibilities and Duties
The Instructional Paraprofessional supports student learning under the direction of licensed teachers and support staff. The paraprofessional will:
• Provide instructional support to individual students and small groups in grades K–5
• Assist teachers in implementing lessons aligned to academic and developmental goals
• Support students with academic tasks, including reading, writing, math, and classroom activities
• Reinforce positive behavior, social skills, and classroom expectations
• Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with IEPs or intervention plans
• Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and learning activities
• Provide supervision during transitions, recess, lunch, and other non-instructional times
• Help maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
• Use positive, respectful communication with students, staff, and families
• Follow school policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements

Requirements
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate’s degree, coursework in education, or experience working with children preferred
• Experience supporting elementary-aged students in an educational or childcare setting preferred
• Substitute license or ability to obtain a substitute license,
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow direction while also demonstrating initiative and flexibility
• Patience, professionalism, and a positive, student-centered mindset
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate’s degree, coursework in education, or experience working with children preferred
• Experience supporting elementary-aged students in an educational or childcare setting preferred

$16.00 - 20.00 an hour, based on experience.
