Position Description:
A special education paraprofessional, under general supervision, provides assistance to a classroom teacher, performing a variety of tasks relating to the physical and instructional needs of students in a classroom setting; assists in the implementation of instructional programs, including self-help and behavior management as well as instruction. The special education paraprofessional performs related duties as required or assigned.
Description of Responsibilities:
● Carries to completion in a timely manner, instructional and supportive activities as assigned by the supervising teacher.
● Work with special education students.
● Work closely with classroom teachers to implement targeted interventions and enrichment in a small group setting.
● Progress monitor students and keep detailed anecdotal notes to help the classroom teacher determine next steps.
● Meet weekly with classroom teachers to collaborate on student learning and responsive teaching.
● Participate in ongoing professional development in reading assessment, critical questioning, and social-emotional development.
● Active supervision of students during lunch and recess.

Requirements
Qualifications
High school diploma, at least two years of college (48 units) or an associate’s degree. First aid and CPR certified, willingness to be trained in reading assessments, and expand professional development around social, emotional and instructional strategies. Has experience working with Special Education students.
