About Me

I’m Mrs. Miller- one of Independence Academy's middle school math teachers! I teach the math/science courses for the RISE team with Mr. Gagnon.  I’m really looking forward to a great year together and wanted to start off by telling you a little bit about me.

This is my 3rd year teaching at Independence Academy Charter School and my 11th year as a teacher.  Before coming to IACS, I taught in the Palmyra Area School District (right beside Hershey, Pennsylvania!) and then taught fifth grade for two years in Allentown, Pennsylvania.  I graduated from Millersville University with my degree in elementary education, then received my master’s degree in instructional technology from Wilkes University.  My husband got a job in Grand Junction so we moved here in June 2020. I love using technology in the classroom and hope to make your middle school math classes full of fun and learning.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending my time with my husband, Mark, and my two sons, Gavin and Owen.  We spend a lot of time playing outside and exploring new places.

I LOVE teaching math so I am excited for this school year. My main goals for you this year are to be successful, find your strengths, enjoy learning, and have FUN!
