Game Design Information
Building games turns students from content consumers into confident digital creators. Students will explore what it means to be a video game designer as they develop engaging stories, design their levels and characters, and program their game mechanics. This course will lead students through the entire process of creating a video game from the ground up. Students will build games to “show what they know” about topics. They will build games to inform and persuade and to tell their epic stories. Building games helps students practice the 4Cs of communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.Our IACS Video Game Design course will be offered to our middle school students. We will be creating text-based games to start off with, and then we will primarily be using the web-based game design platform, Bloxels.
